Cooking with the Rhythm of the Garden

There is a special kind of joy in cooking with ingredients gathered only moments before they reach the kitchen.

The garden teaches patience, seasonality, and gratitude. Each cucumber cooled by morning dew, each basil leaf warmed by afternoon sun, and every herb clipped just before serving carries a freshness impossible to replicate.

Garden-to-table cooking begins not with a recipe, but with observation. What is thriving today? Which herbs are fragrant? What produce feels most vibrant in this moment?

In summer, the garden often asks for simplicity ~ and sometimes, relief from the heat. Not every seasonal dish needs the oven. Some of the most delicious meals are cool, fresh, and effortlessly elegant.

This month, we’re sharing a recipe that captures exactly that.

Chilled Cucumber Avocado Soup with Rosemary Olive Oil

Silky, refreshing, and wonderfully nourishing ~ this soup feels like summer in a bowl.

Ingredients

  • 2 large cucumbers, peeled, seeded and chopped

  • 1 ripe avocado

  • ½ cup Greek yogurt or crème fraîche

  • Juice of 1 lemon

  • 1 small garlic clove

  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

  • Small handful fresh basil

  • Sea salt and cracked pepper

  • ¼–½ cup cold filtered water (as needed)

  • Le Petit Jardin Rosemary Olive Oil

  • Small handful of fresh basil

  • Pinch of sea salt

Method

  1. Blend all soup ingredients until completely smooth and silky. Add cold filtered water gradually until desired consistency is reached.

  2. Chill for at least 1 hour.

  3. Pour soup into bowls and finish with a drizzle of Le Petit Jardin rosemary olive oil, cracked pepper, pinch of sea salt and a few small basil leaves.

Optional garnish: diced cucumber, edible flowers, or a spoonful of fresh mozzarella pearls.

Cool, velvety, and alive with garden freshness, it’s the kind of dish that invites you to slow down and savor the season.

To cook from the garden is to honor the quiet abundance of summer ~ to taste freshness at its peak, one beautiful bite at a time.

Bon Appetit !!
