Wellness Isn’t Complicated ~ We Just Forgot the Recipe

A return to the quiet wisdom of the garden

‍ ‍

There was a time when wellness was not something we pursued.

It was simply the way we lived.

‍ ‍

It lived in kitchens filled with the scent of something slowly simmering …

in hands dusted with flour …

in gardens tended not for perfection, but for nourishment and beauty.

Our grandparents knew this rhythm quite well.

They didn’t speak of “wellness” as a concept ~

they embodied it.

Meals were prepared with intention, not urgency.

Ingredients were simple, often gathered just steps from the back door.

Conversations lingered at the table long after the last bite,

woven with laughter, stories, and a sense of belonging.

There was a quiet understanding then …

that caring for the earth was inseparable from caring for ourselves.

The Garden as Teacher

At Le Petit Jardin, I often find myself returning to this way of living.

The garden reminds us that everything has its season.

That nourishment cannot be rushed.

That beauty and sustenance grow side by side when given care.

In these moments ~ harvesting herbs warmed by the sun,

or gathering berries just at their peak ~

there is a gentle invitation to slow down.

To remember.

What We Once Knew

Wellness was never meant to be complicated.

It was never found in endless choices or overwhelming routines.

‍ ‍

It was found in:

• Fresh bread shared with someone you love

• Seasonal fruits, picked at their sweetest moment

• Time spent outdoors, hands in the soil

• Simple meals made with intention

• Community ~ real, present, and connected

It was a way of life rooted in presence.

A Return to What Matters

This spirit is at the heart of Le Petit Jardin.

‍ ‍

Each small batch creation, each garden gathering, each quiet offering is a reflection of something deeper—

a longing to return to what matters most.

To rediscover the beauty of simplicity.

To reconnect with the rhythms of nature.

To nourish not only the body, but the soul.

‍ ‍

Because perhaps wellness was never something we needed to find…

Only something we needed to remember.

From My Garden to Yours

As I shared in my recent conversation on the Behind the Bluff podcast with Jeff Ford ~ this journey is not about doing more ….

but about returning.

Returning to the kitchen.

To the garden.

To the quiet rituals that once shaped our days.

And in doing so, creating something meaningful,

heartwarming, and lasting.
